David McCowan: Lead Pastor |
David grew up in both Boston, MA.
Following high school, he attended Gordon College and served in
the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from the University
of Massachusetts at Lowell in 1980 with a B.A. in history and a
minor in political science. Upon graduation from Gordon-Cornwell
Theological Seminary with a M.A. in theological studies, he
attended North Park Theological Seminary and received an MDiv.
Since 1985 he has served as a Covenant pastor in Michigan,
Massachusetts, and Illinois. He has also served as a campus
minister and funeral home chaplain prior to coming to Clay
Center Covenant Church in 2000.
David and his wife, Venessa, have two children. Along with
spending time with his family, David enjoys running, hunting,
boating, body surfing in the ocean, refereeing high school and
college basketball games, and cooking. Oh, and he loves
cheesecake and a good piece of pie!

Grant Clay: Associate Pastor |
Grant grew up in Bellevue, WA.
Upon receiving a B.A. in theology from Whitworth College, Grant
spent the next four years working with at-risk youth through
First Covenant Church in Spokane, WA. He recently graduated with
an MDiv from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL. He
joined the staff as Associate Pastor in 2005. Grant helps
coordinate the church’s various ministries and shares the
preaching and teaching duties with David.
Grant enjoys quality time with his
wife, Suzanne, studying theology, outdoor activities, movies and
strategizing how to change the world.

Jana Cott: Youth Pastor |
Jana grew up in Clay Center, KS.
Following graduation at Kansas State University, she taught
fifth grade in Wichita for several years. She moved back to Clay
Center and taught at the junior high level. After volunteering
with the youth group for a number of years, Jana came on staff
as Youth Pastor in 1999, where she leads a lively group of over
35 junior high and over 70 senior high students!
In her spare time, Jana enjoys scrap-booking, hosting parties,
and going on dates with her “hubby”. Her favorite night of the
week is Family Fun Night where each of her three children
rotates in cooking a special supper with Mom and deciding the
family's activity together.

Kim
Larson: Children's Pastor |
Kim grew up in Arlington, KS.
She received a degree in elementary education from Kansas State
University where she met her husband, Dale. Upon returning to
Clay Center, Kim taught elementary school until the birth of her
first child. After volunteering with the Children’s Ministry for
a number of years, Kim came on staff as Children’s Pastor in
1999.
Outside of ministering to children, Kim’s favorite pastimes are
gardening, travel, hosting family gatherings and discovering the
joys of being a grandmother. Kim and Dale are the proud parents
of 5 children and one grandson!

Bob Stratton: Pastoral Assistant |
As Pastoral Assistant, Bob’s
primary responsibility is helping people get connected to the church family and
become involved in ministry to others. A Clay Center native, Bob
and his wife, Linda, have two children and three adorable
granddaughters. Bob also loves children, sports, and cooking. |

Becky Lundquist: Office
Administrator |
Becky developed her love for
rural life while growing up on a farm in northern Kansas.
Following graduation from Fort Hays State University with a B.A.
in English, she worked in a number of school districts for many
years before coming to Clay Center Covenant as the Office
Administrator in the summer of 2005. Becky and her husband,
Mike, have two sons in college and a daughter in high school. In
her spare time, Becky enjoys reading, crocheting and gardening. |
